Richard Wilkinson
Richard Wilkinson was, prior to his recent retirement, Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Nottingham. His academic research has been focused on the effects of inequality upon social cohesion and public health. Richard has written three books on the subject: Unhealthy Societies: The Affliction of Inequality (1996), The Impact of Inequality: How to Make Sick Societies Healthier (2005) and, co-authored with Kate Pickett, The Spirit Level: Why more equal societies almost always do better (2009). Before training in epidemiology, he studied economic history at the LSE.
