Glenn Jenkins
Glenn Jenkins is the chair of Marsh Farm Outreach, a grassroots community co-operative made up of volunteers living on the Marsh Farm Estate in Luton, Bedfordshire. In 1995, Marsh Farm became synonymous with trouble and violence after several years of tension between local police and groups of local youths erupted into three nights of running battles, involving hundreds of local people and hundreds of riot officers deployed from the Metropolitan Police in London. While attempts have been made to inject cash and regenerate the area, Glenn and the other activists at MFO believe that these efforts will fail unless local people are involved in the process. MFO now works to ensure that all regeneration proposals are of genuine benefit to local people, that community businesses and social enterprises get priority over for-profit corporations and that the concerns of the community are heard and acted upon.
