War on Want join The Bigger Picture

War on Want

The Bigger Picture has a new partner this week, as War on Want joins the growing list of organisations which are supporting the events. War on Want are adamant that poverty is a political issue, and will be bringing their wealth of expertise and campaign experience to the Festival of Interdependence. Stay tuned for more details about workshops and talks.

Stephen Spratt Tim Lang

Dr Stephen Spratt, chief economist at nef (the new economics foundation), and Professor Tim Lang, from the centre for food policy at City University, London, are the newest addition to The Bigger Picture’s line-up of speakers.

New speakers

Susan George Lucie_Stephens Sargon Nissan

The author, scholar and president of the Board of the Transnational Institute in Amsterdam, Susan George, is the latest high-profile addition to our growing list of speakers for The Bigger Picture: A Festival of Interdependence happening on 24 October.

We’ve also added a range of researchers and experts from nef (the new economics foundation), including Lucie Stephens, who heads up nef’s research on co-production and the core economy, and Sargon Nissan, who works on community finance, banking reform and ethical investment.

Centre for Sustainable Fashion joins The Bigger Picture

Centre for Sustainable Fashion

The latest partner organisation to sign up with The Bigger Picture is The Centre for Sustainable Fashion, at the London College of Fashion. And with them, we have another speaker: Dr Frances Corner, Professor of Art and Design Education at the college.

We’re also looking for volunteers to help us to keep things running smoothly on 24 October.

Joe Smith of the Open University, Claire Melamed of ActionAid and David Boyle of nef (the new economics foundation) are the latest confirmed speakers at the Bigger Picture: a Festival of Interdependence, happening on 24 October 2009.

Since we publically announced the event last Thursday, we’ve had an incredible surge of interest. Over a hundred people have registered in the space of a few days.
